Features
Everything the exam office does, in one place.
A complete list of what Insight does today, grouped as your year runs. Nothing here is a plan or a promise: it is all in the current version.
Setting up
Set up once, used all year.
Setup wizard
Five steps: school details, signatories, grading scale, classes and students. A demo school can be loaded first to explore.
School profile
Logo, seal, address, affiliation and contact details, checked as you type. Signatures come from a photo of the signature on paper, with the background removed, or can be drawn.
Classes & subjects
Classes from LKG to Class 10, sections, subjects with maximum marks, and elective groups such as a choice of second language.
Class teachers
One class teacher per section, printed on marks cards and teachers' marks sheets, and used to group the WhatsApp share pack.
Students
Add one by one, edit many at once as a table, or import from Excel and CSV in the layouts schools already use. Every row is checked before saving; incomplete records are flagged. Parents' mobiles are checked as WhatsApp numbers.
Past exams
Starting mid-year? Bring in the marks of exams already held, from a ready template per exam and class, your own Excel sheets, or a long list exported from other software. Every value is checked like Marks Entry, dates keep the exams in order, and replacing existing marks needs the Admin PIN.
Academic Planner
The year's working days set once: Sundays off by default, Saturday rules, holidays and vacations, a sudden holiday in one click, and exam windows. Import the school calendar from PDF, Word, Excel, LibreOffice or a Google/Outlook calendar, or paste it from WhatsApp. The dashboard calendar and exam timetables follow it.
Monthly attendance
Class teachers fill a ready sheet with each student's days present; the exam office imports every section at once, checked against the planner. A late month is flagged every time Insight opens, and marks cards add the months up.
Document Studio
One design for every printed document: style, accent colour, typeface, header layout, footer slots, ink saver, and options for each document.
Grading
Presets for Simple A–F, CBSE A1–E and Primary, or your own bands and pass mark. Optional co-scholastic areas on marks cards.
Examinations
Before and during the exam.
Exam schedule
The shortest timetable for all classes that keeps every rule: holidays, exam weekdays, study days per subject and class, sessions, two papers a day if allowed, pairs of subjects written on the same day with their own study days, and a finishing date. Move papers by hand; Shuffle for an alternative.
Hall tickets
One, two or three copies per A4 sheet, with the timetable, an invigilator signature column, instructions and printed signatures. One PDF for all, or a ZIP by class and section.
Exam day
Rooms as bench rows × columns × seats per bench. Seating plans that keep classmates apart, door lists, attendance and signature sheets, packet labels and a fair duty chart.
Class tests
Short tests outside the main exams, with the chapters covered, a paper from the Paper Generator, and their own marks grid.
Question papers
Papers that feel like editing, not form-filling.
Question bank
Sixteen question types, from MCQ, fill in the blanks and one word to diagrams, maps, match the following, assertion–reason, case-based and comprehension, organised by class, subject, chapter and subtopic.
Smart Import
Word, PDF and Excel files, several at once, or pasted text. Questions, types, options and marks are detected; class, subject, chapter and difficulty suggested; duplicates pointed out. Nothing is saved until you check it, and an import can be undone.
Hindi and Kannada
Questions stay in their own script on screen and on paper, in fonts that come with Insight, so papers print the same on every computer. Smart Import reads Hindi and Kannada papers as typed: native numbering, options and marks.
Paper generator
A live paper page. Ready patterns, chapters and subtopics, difficulty balance, fresh questions, internal choice. Click a question to swap, choose, move or remove it.
Answer keys and sets
An answer key for every paper, and sets A–D with questions and options in a different order, each with its own key.
OMR tests
Bubble sheets on plain paper.
Personalised sheets
One A4 sheet per student with name and roll number, up to 100 questions (75 with five options), options A–D or A–E, and up to four paper sets.
Answer keys
Click, type, or take the key from a saved paper for each set. A question left without a key gives everyone its marks.
Reading
Scans or phone photos, in any order and any way up. Each sheet is identified by its printed ID strip, straightened using its corner marks, and read on the same computer.
Review
Blank, double and faint answers are marked for you to check against the picture.
Scoring and analysis
Marks per question, negative marking, dropped questions. Share correct, chosen options, how well each question separated strong and weak students, and a warning when the top scorers disagree with the key.
Into Marks Entry
Save the scores into a class test or exam paper, with students who had no sheet marked absent.
Marks, analysis and reports
After the exam.
Marks entry
A keyboard-first grid with live totals and grades. Paste from Excel. AB, EX and ML codes. Marks over the maximum, or anything that is not a plain number, are refused and counted until fixed. Lock with the Admin PIN; every change recorded.
Teachers' marks sheets
Ready Excel sheets for each teacher, one per class section or per section and subject, with students and papers filled in. Teachers fill them on their own computers; the office imports any mix at once, every value checked, and Marks Entry shows every subject together.
Marks Status
For each exam, every class section and its class teacher, with each paper shown as all in, some missing, not started or not written yet. Click a paper to see exactly whose marks are missing and enter them; download the list to chase them up.
Analysis
Key findings in plain sentences, trends through the year, subject averages, grade distribution and a section × subject comparison, for any class, section, subject or exam.
Student categories
Needs attention, keep an eye on, significant improvers, consistent high, middle and low, and inconsistent, each with the reason.
Student profiles
A year against the class, subject by subject: strengths, focus areas, suggested next steps and a projection for the next exam.
Result Analysis PDF
The current analysis as a report for staff meetings.
Marks cards
One exam or the whole year: every exam as a column, progress chart, class averages, optional rank, attendance, co-scholastic grades and constructive feedback that teachers can edit.
WhatsApp share pack
A folder per class section named with its class teacher: every student's marks card named for them, and a send list with the parent's mobile and a Sent column. Teachers send from WhatsApp; Insight never goes online.
Annual results
At the end of the year.
Weightage and pass rules
Which exams count and how much, pass marks per subject and overall, and optional rounding of 34.5 to 35.
Grace marks
Limits per subject, in total and in the number of subjects. Given only where it turns a fail into a pass, smallest shortfalls first, and shown as +n on the register.
Moderation
Add marks to one exam, class and subject with a reason, after seeing how many results would change. Raw marks are never altered.
Decisions
Passed, supplementary exam, detained, or promoted with support in no-detention classes; minimum attendance optional. Students with unmarked papers stay incomplete.
Supplementary exams
Re-exam marks update results at once; notices to parents with an acknowledgement slip.
Register and declaration
A landscape result register with signatures. Once declared, changes need the Admin PIN, and whole-year marks cards print the result.
Branches
Every branch, side by side.
Branch summary file
Each branch exports one small file: averages, pass and distinction rates, grade and category counts, by exam, class and subject. No names, roll numbers or marks of students; groups under five show only their size. A file edited after it was made is refused.
Branch Overview
Head office loads every branch's file: one view-only tab per branch with its own dashboard, and Compare all for the whole school, progress through the year, each class and each subject.
Head office licence
A comparison-only licence for a head office computer: Insight opens straight to Branch Overview and holds no student data. Bound to that computer, like every licence.
Settings and safety
Quietly looking after everything.
Backups
A backup every day, the last seven kept; manual and password-encrypted backups; a safety copy before every restore, reset and new year.
Recovery
A damaged data file is detected at start-up and the latest good backup offered in one click.
Admin PIN
One 6-digit PIN, set during setup, for unlocking marks, restoring, changing declared results, a new year and updates. A recovery code for a forgotten PIN. Wrong PINs slow down, and 15 in a row lock the protected actions until your provider's signed unlock file.
Export to Excel
All of a school's data in one workbook: students, parents' mobiles, every mark and one results sheet per exam and class.
New academic year
Promotes every class, graduates the final class, keeps detained students back, and clears the year's exams and marks, after saving a year-end archive.
Updates
A single signed file, checked for authenticity before installing. Data, settings and licence are kept.
